Cupping Techniques

Therapists use silicone cups, which are moved over the body from place to place on the skin for a myofascial effect. Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction expands and opens tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin. The body treats the cupped area like an injury sending more blood to the area to stimulate the natural healing process.

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where they are placed relieving muscle tension, improving overall blood flow & promoting cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.

Cupping is used for many purposes with other modalities during the treatment to complement their care for a host of symptoms and conditions including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep tissue massage.

Cupping benefits are the following:
  • Release scar tissue and fascial adhesions.
  • Reduce painful trigger points.
  • Improve circulation, blood and lymph circulation.
  • Relieve pain.
  • Promote mobility and range of motion.
  • Improves mature scars.
  • Decrease toxins.
